One of the hardest tasks in the modern world is to deal with money. As I research for accounts, payment services, and paths to our ministry with orphans in Nigeria, I've discovered corruption at every level, nearly every company and internationally, deep racial contention between our nation and many other countries, especially Africa.

Our world is not our home...and God's word tells us that our only standard is his word, not the vagaries or "standards" of mankind.

Constant prayer goes from my lips as I deal with banks and wire services. Big banks are changing their methods as the swing from Congressional control goes back to self-regulation again and the banks have more say so in their dealings with the public.

Just last month, Forbes posted an article on the shark like attitude of banks toward customers while our son and I experienced the insouciance of bankers toward customers when both my son and I were accused of allowing outside fraud to happen when we were both attacked in the supposed shelter of our local banks. He had to close his account through no fault of his own, I had to close another account we were using for ministry funds even while it was attacked as I instructed the bank to close it!

Our world is not our home...and God's word tells us that our only standard is his word, not the vagaries or "standards" of mankind. I know there are Christians in the banking industry, as he found favor with one fellow in the local branch who saw what was going on and went the extra mile to help him.

When it comes to money, the cosmos of the world seeks its own, not the good of others. Ministry is just another "mouth-watering" form of prey for the predator.

I keep thinking of the phrase one of our family friends says on Facebook, "God is good!" Her faith in the Almighty is a reminder of the sufferings and God's walk with each of our families through suffering that we've all dealt with.
